Love is an expression that teaches many lessons
Some use it to cover sins or lustful obsessions
Love can lead us to babylon,
Or be the crux of our depression
For some its an addiction,
whether filled with peace or friction
Why or when can be on a whim,
Plug it in, switch it on, let the thrill begin
Need drives them on on again and again
Love can make you feel insane,
Exhileration mixed with pain
Some give generously, some abstain
Love can last forever, or simply for a season
A strange phenemenon that strikes without reason
Underrated, belated, dated or hated
Coming and going like a predator fixated
End results plotted and calculated
til its fundamental hunger is sated
Love can be a blessing or a curse,
Can heal heartache or make it worse
Love can send you mentally into reverse,
My contemplations are in this verse
Love can be beautiful, gentle and kind,
Some is evil, with control in mind
Some seek perfection they never find,
Yet Love's not always about connection
but what we experience or see reflected
How minds perceive or bodies feel,
whether imagined or real
chemical or physical, loyalty or literal,
forgiving or critical
Some fear it, some refuse to get near it
Some sigh and dream
and never hear it reverberating inside,
or calling to them from the outside
Still lost in a time loop of a love that died
Still licking the wounds of lost pride
Committing emotional suicide
If Love in its better forms you know
touches your mind or reaches your soul
Then life has achieved its basic goal
and taught you of humanity,
selflessness and sanity,
unity and the opposite of vanity
Recognize Love in your life, it all counts
Good or bad, in any format or amount
and walk with me thru the concepts
